But in the end, Sonny realized that his son, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), was the most important person in his life, and he was willing to do whatever it took to repair their fractured relationship. It takes a lot of courage to make amends with those we love, especially when we’ve made mistakes. But Sonny’s decision to choose family over everything else is a testament to his character – and a lesson to us all.
That being said, his acceptance of Michael’s olive branch, while knowing it was likely Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) who extended it, didn’t signal that Michael was going to meet him halfway. Now, Michael’s mother is in trouble, and Sonny won’t sit back and watch the chips fall.
Two years ago, General Hospital spoilers show Sonny did the unthinkable. A man who was known for his family values, he fell in love with a woman who kept him from his wife and children. If that wasn’t bad enough, he jumped into bed with her the moment he thought Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) had turned her back on him — leaving her and the kids in shambles. Finally, enough time has passed that Sonny and Carly have been able to be amicable for the sake of their children — not that Nina is keen on seeing Sonny repair that relationship. But just wait until she sees the lengths he’s willing to go to in order to protect his ex-wife.
The tension in the room will be palpable when Carly lets Nina have it once she figures out it was her who reported back to the SEC like a tattle tale. Despite the delicate nature of their family situation, these two continued to spar like a pair of heavyweight boxers.
Willow’s future might be hanging in the balance — along with Nina’s relationship with her newly discovered daughter, but she just couldn’t stop herself from twisting the knife in Carly’s back. It’s a complicated situation, to say the least, and the fact that Nina and Willow never got along from the start certainly doesn’t help matters. But what is most surprising is how Nina seems to blame Carly for all of her shortcomings. It’s as if Carly is the root of all of her problems, when in reality, the situation is far more complex than that. These two women certainly have a lot of work to do if they ever hope to find common ground.
Nina doesn’t know what she’s up against, and her bestie, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) did try to warn her. When push comes to shove, this is a family unit and SOnny won’t leave Carly in the dust. Likewise, Carly isn’t one to hold back the truth.
When Sonny is faced with a difficult decision regarding their family, Carly will make it clear that family should always come first. This might leave Nina feeling even more bitter towards Carly. But maybe, just maybe, Nina needs to start looking in the mirror instead of pointing fingers. Because at the end of the day, it’s up to Nina to make her own choices and take responsibility for the consequences. Will Sonny recommend she do so as he leaves her behind to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and makes his way back to Carly?
