With Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) now seemingly out of the picture, who will take care of Esme’s baby in her absence? She doesn’t have many people on her side who are looking to do her any favors, but Esme does have a few people in her corner as of late — as long as she keeps up the appearance that she has changed and only wants what is best for her baby.
Laura Collins (Genie Francis) is no stranger to cleaning up her son, Nikolas’, messes. In fact, she had to do the same thing not too long ago when Nikolas “died” and left his son, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez), behind without a parent. Laura took the reins and was determined to see to it that her grandson didn’t slip through the cracks of life as an orphan, and Spencer will never forget it. Laura wouldn’t mind having another cherished relationship with her newest grandson, but she might not be cut out for raising another child at this stage in her life either. That being said, Spencer sure is eager to help out with his little brother. Perhaps they’ll tag team raising this little guy.
Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) is itching to confess her sins — ahem, crimes — to the PCPD. She’s tired of looking over her shoulder and carrying the burden of knowing what she did to Esme. She had more than her fill of this kind of anxiety when she was helping Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) hide the truth about what happened to Peter August (Wes Ramsey).
General Hospital spoilers say Elizabeth needs a clean conscience and to set a good example for her sons, not to run away from what she’s done hoping no one finds out for the rest of her life — which is unlikely given that Esme will likely recall her memories at some point. Speaking of Esme, Elizabeth might get off rather easily with the PCPD for rolling over on Nikolas, but that doesn’t mean she will feel like she earned her freedom. Will welcoming Esme’s baby into her home make her feel like she’s earning Esme’s forgiveness more?
Certainly, Esme doesn’t know any of these people very well at all. Spencer and Laura have both been very kind to her, but she has no memory of them or Elizabeth. They may all be well-intentioned, but it might take seeing someone who Esme had a true emotional connection with for her to accept their help. Is that person her former nanny, Maggie Fitzgerald (Heather Olt)? Will Maggie head to the U.S. to unburden Esme and keep her child safe until she can do so herself, and if so, will Maggie’s presence jog Esme’s memory enough to make her feel comfortable with placing her child in Maggie’s care? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
