Feeling concerned for her daughter’s wellbeing, Portia is going to overstep once again, and this time no one will see it coming. When Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) landed in the hospital recently over suspected strep throat, Portia found herself invited into the other side of Spencer’s life that her distant daughter hasn’t been sharing.
General Hospital spoilers tease Esme doesn’t want to be here, living with Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Spencer. What if Portia can help Esme facilitate her grand launch from Port Charles? Would Spencer chase after her as a means of sticking close to his baby brother? Portia can only hope!
Esme, desperate to distance herself from Port Charles and the Cassadine clan, will become Portia’s unexpected ally in her mission to separate Spencer and Trina. Portia is confident that if Esme leaves town, Spencer, who is deeply attached to Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay), will undoubtedly follow her. This would leave Trina free of Spencer’s influence. It’s a win all around, right? On the other hand, Portia’s disdain for Spencer has blinded her to the reality that Esme is a volatile young woman with a criminal past — a past that includes an attempt to frame her daughter for a crime she didn’t commit. That’s not nothing.
Portia has certainly voiced her concern about her daughter dating Spencer, but perhaps she’s not giving him the credit he deserves. Or so says Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner). While it’s understandable that Portia just wants the best for her little girl, it’s important that she recognizes Spencer is not as bad as she may fear. In fact, he has proven time and time again that his love and concern for Trina’s well-being is genuine, and he’s gone to great lengths to protect her when things have gotten chaotic.
Perhaps it’s time for Portia to give Spencer a chance and see him for who he truly is, rather than just focusing on his family name. Out of interest in trying to bond with her husband again, Portia might be open to hearing what he has to say on the matter, but she’s not going to tell him about her designs on Esme and what she hopes to pull off by manipulating her.
Portia’s plans could backfire dramatically if Trina decides to leave college and follow Spencer. Portia must tread carefully to avoid pushing her daughter further into Spencer’s arms. She might be underestimating just how much Spencer means to Trina if she thinks her daughter is just going to let him go because Esme decides to run. Will Portia’s decision drive a wedge between her and Trina? Or will they bring an end to Spencer and Trina’s relationship? Keep checking back with us for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
