General Hospital spoilers indicate Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) has been gunning for Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) since the moment she set foot back in Port Charles after leaving her life in shambles in Nixon Falls.
When Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) found his way back to her, it should’ve been all the proof Nina needed that he was committed to her, but a woman knows when her man has someone else on his mind. Judging from Nina’s paranoia about Carly, it would seem Sonny’s thoughts must be filled with his ex pretty regularly.
Nina made a promisewshe wouldn’t take another jab at Carly, but when Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) makes it look so easy, Nina might not be able to resist the urge to push Carly out of Sonny’s life.
Carly is going to have a hard time steering clear of Mason’s threats without Sonny’s help — and the don won’t be unhappy about it.
That’s really going to grind Nina’s gears; she just wants to feel like she’s the only woman in her man’s heart — is that too much to ask? Apparently so.
When Sonny learns that it wasn’t just any old barfly who Carly bludgeoned over the head on her night out with Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), he won’t be happy.
Another entanglement with Mason is the last thing any of them needed. That being said, Mason won’t know who the woman is that clocked him in that bar — until Nina tells him, that is.
Carly has been rather resistant to Sonny’s charms as of late. When he showed up at the PCPD months ago.
While Carly was being questioned about suspicions that she engaged in insider trading, Sonny sent the police on a wild goose chase to buy Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) more time.
Carly was grateful but it also irritated her to no end to have help from her ex. She wants a clear boundary between his life and her own, and he seems to keep finding reasons to cross it.
When he tried to help her out at the PCPD again recently, she wasn’t having it. Carly spent the night in a jail cell instead of letting Sonny be the person who escorted her out of the station.
When he offered a favor that got Drew out of solitary and gave Carly access to him again, she reluctantly accepted it.
Now, when he offers her protection from Mason, she’s going to know there is no way she can refuse it without being stupidly prideful and putting herself and her kids at risk.
In the meantime, Sonny will be protecting Carly, which will drive Nina up the wall. In response, she’ll continue to strengthen her alliance with Mason in hopes that he will take Carly out for her so she never has to worry about her again.
Yes, it appears Nina’s envy of Carly knows no bounds – even if it means Sonny’s children lose her for good.
Nina should have known better than to wage war against someone Sonny cares about. She won’t be able to turn back from this misstep any more than she could her SEC tip.
