Soaps.com recently chatted with the character’s portrayer, actor Shawn Christian, and of course, the question “Would you ever consider returning to Days”, popped up.
How did Shawn answer the question? He replied that he’d “absolutely” go back to DOOL, at any time if the opportunity popped up. He clarified that he’d have to ensure he’s not doing a film, but if his schedule permitted, then the answer is, “yes” on a Salem comeback.
During his Soap.com interview, the actor gushed about his stint on Days. He notes that he “enjoyed” his time there, enjoyed the people, and the crew. Christian reveals that a return doesn’t mean he has to reprise his Jonas role, he could do another character. He states he would be “deeply grate” to return if the circumstance presented itself.
In fact, Shawn says that he gets asked about when he’s coming back to Salem by DOOL fans “everywhere” he travels or at appearances”. He notes that “he’s grateful” fans “want him back”.
Dr. Daniel Jonas entered the land of Salem in 2008. Sadly, in 2016, he died in a drunk driving accident caused by Eric Brady and ended up donating his heart to Brady Black (Eric Martsolf). As such, a comeback would be dicey and Days writers would have to get creative; however, if the show can bring back Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), then why not the good doctor?
