Days spoilers note that while Shawn is struggling and almost hit rock bottom, he did reach out for a life preserver before doing something drastic.

He turned to both Belle and his mother-in-law Marlena Evans (Diedre Hall), and all hands are on deck.

Still, Shawn has had a rough go. He shot his father Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), just as his mom Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso) had “reached through” to him, landing him in a coma.

After years of being dead frozen, Shawn took the opportunity Bo had to reconnect with family and threw it away. It was an accident, of course, but his grandfather Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) blamed Shawn for Bo’s predicament and stopped talking to him, only to perish in a plane crash. That’s a lot to carry.

He had turned to alcohol to cope; however, Shawn is trying to step away from self-destruction.
