Even though Li is being painted as a villain, he’s not evil at heart. At the very core, Li is just hopelessly in love and going about it in all the wrong ways. With Gabi’s exit looming, it is speculated that she will be killed off. The target is Stefan, not Gabi.

Collateral damage won’t mean much to Megan, as long as she accomplishes the end goal. So, if Gabi ends up being killed, Li could turn around and kill Megan.

It would give Li some kind of redemption. However, he will still lose Gabi in the end, whether it’s through heartbreak or death.
