However, once Alex turned off Stephanie’s phone while Kayla died, the romance was over. If Stephanie would have been able to get to her mother before she died, then Alex might have gotten another chance. However, Kayla died and Stephanie wasn’t there, which is Alex’s fault. So, Stephanie dumped Alex. The timing was perfect since Chad decided he was ready to move on from Abigail.
