Days Of Our Lives Comings And Goings: Bryan Dattilo Returns As Lucas

Days of Our Lives comings and goings reveal Bryan R. Dattilo returning to the role of Lucas Horton, one he has played off and on since the mid-1990s.

As DOOL fans know, Lucas Horton has been languishing behind bars in Statesville ever since Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) learned that he was the one who had her kidnapped and held hostage in a remote cabin for months just so he could play hero. He even set up EJ DiMera (Daniel Feuerriegel) to take the fall and was all set to remarry Sami when the truth was revealed.

Lucas ended up going to prison and Sami left town once again to clear her head but now we get a peak at Lucas’ life behind bars as Dattilo makes a comeback upon hearing that Lucas’ mother, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow), is dead. Alcoholic hot mess Lucas is completely devastated and Dattilo is thrilled that he was able to play this story out.

DOOL Spoilers – Brian Dattilo Had A New Experience At DAYS

Despite being a member of the DAYS cast for 30 years, Dattilo has not always had a chance to work with some of the soaps’ most popular actors until now. First up was George Del Hoyo as Orpheus, a fellow inmate who is actually responsible for Lucas’ beloved mother’s death.

“I got to [explore the whole angle of being in prison with Orpheus,“ Dattilo said in the January 16, 2023, issue of Soap Opera Digest. It doesn’t exactly go well, as Lucas is pretty much losing his mind over what happened to Kate. That also led Dattilo to work with two vets also involved with the story, namely Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson) and Drake Hogestyn (John Black).

“We became the comedy team of Drake, Stephen, and Bryan. I got to be a part of the leather jacket crew,” Dattilo said. “That was fun. It was fun cahooting with them and getting back to being Lucas on the inside with information.

While this return is only a limited run, Dattilo isn’t ruling out more. With Lucas only a short drive away in jail, we are sure we will see him again soon. Steam new episodes of Days of Our Lives weekdays on Peacock starting at 6 AM EST.
