In the first week of January, Counting On fans heard that Austin Forsyth and his wife Joy-Anna Duggar had some plans to develop some land into a camping spot for RVs. Anyway, the locals in the area were not very happy about it and they planned to contest the idea. Now the news arrived that allegedly, the former TLC stars were turned down after a community meeting with the mayor.
Counting On – RV Park Plan Did Not Appeal To Locals
When people heard about Austin’s plan, they felt a bit shocked because Joy-Anna is expecting a baby and they already raise kids. So, it seemed strange that they didn’t think of the same thing that the locals did. In fact, they are closely related to Josh Duggar as well. And that might have pushed up concerns. That’s because he planned for the RV campsite to be situated close to a daycare and a school. There were other concerns as well.
The Counting On couple, together with Jim Bib Duggar’s realtor, wanted the RV Park to be available for camping and renting. So, the community grew concerned about random strangers taking up residence in their town. Supposedly in an area suitable for exploring nature, apparently, that wasn’t really feasible according to sources. However, their fears ended up not being realized as the Mayor and the community turned the idea down.
Counting On – Austin Forsyth’s RV Idea Was Turned Down
Katie Joy of Without A Crystal Ball on Instagram has some sources, and the original plan was leaked to her by one of them. On January 16, Katie updated all about the RV Park proposed for “a tiny town in Elkins, Arkansas.” According to the source, the mayor “immediately expressed concern about non-compliant sex offenders hunkering down in their RV Park with no one knowing the wiser.” In the meeting, it was also mentioned that “the placement outside of a daycare” might attract “pedophiles.”
While the problem of child predators was prime, the Counting On stars’ plans involved other issues. So, residents talked about “sewage, drainage, and the fact that camping in the middle of the city was a ridiculous notion.” Allegedly, Austin Forsyth was upset because he already paid cash for the 12-acre. property. Unfortunately for him, “the plan was denied unanimously.”
Counting On – TLC Fans Comment
Counting On viewers took to the comments to have their say. One of them wrote, “having an RV park (esp one that may be in a lower income bracket per capita) within the city is not out of the norm.”
But others focused on the potential child predation. A commenter said, “Good for them ? For ppl that talk so much about having babies and what joy they bring, they sure don’t think about protecting them from possible…harmful situations.”
There might be a problem with people who already live in the town. Someone who seems to know the place said, “[Allegedly], there are 18 registered sex offenders that live in this town. Hopefully there are laws in place that keep them away from schools and day area.”
