The Royal Family news and updates reveal that Chris Rock talked about Meghan Markle’s racism claims against the royal family. The 58-year-old comedian said that what the Duchess of Sussex experienced was not racism but had something to do with problems with her in-laws.
In his new Netflix special titled “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage,” he made a few jokes about Meghan and the royal family. He claimed that “some of that s— she went through was not racism,” but rather what he called “in-law s—.”
“Because she’s complaining, I’m like, ‘What the f— is she talking about? ‘They’re so racist, they wanted to know how brown the baby was going to be…’ I’m like, ‘That’s not racist,’ cause’ even Black people want to know how brown the baby gon’ be. S—. We check behind them ears,” he said.
Chris Rock also emphasized that there are many people who paint themselves as victims even if they’re not. He added that Meghan seemed like she was a nice lady who was still complaining even if she “didn’t hit the light-skinned lottery.”
He’s also not convinced that Meghan has no idea that the royal family is racist. He considers them as the original racist, and she can easily Google it. He added that the royals invested in colonialism. He also referred to the royal family as the “OGs of racism,” “Sugarhill Gang of racism,” and added that they “invested in slavery like it was Shark Tank.”
Prince Harry’s Take On Racism
In an interview with ITV’s Tom Brady last January, when he promoted his book titled Spare, Prince Harry was asked if he would describe the incident as “essentially racist.”
The actor pointed out that there’s a difference between racism and unconscious bias. He didn’t describe the incident as the former but as the latter. He added that once it’s been pointed out, the institution had the chance to learn from it because if it doesn’t, it’ll eventually progress into racism.
