British Royal Family News: Prince Harry Goes Off On The ‘Outdated’ Royal Rota

This has got to sting for sure. British Royal family News says that Prince Harry certainly didn’t hold back his disdain for the royal rota in his new book, Spare. In fact, he called them outdated and entitled and even banned some of the royal reporters from his wedding to Meghan Markle back in 2018. Here’s what you need to know.

In Spare, Prince Harry details how some members of his family tried to encourage him to feed the press some details about his marriage to Meghan, but he only gave a little at a time. He also made it clear that he didn’t want to see one royal correspondent at the wedding unless Murdoch himself was going to apologize for his phone hacking scandal.

He wrote, “I’d had it with the Royal Rota, both the individuals and the system, which was more outdated than the horse and cart. It had been devised some forty years earlier, to give British print and broadcast reporters first crack at the Royal Family, and it stank to high heaven. It discouraged fair competition, engendered cronyism, encouraged a small mob of hacks to feel entitled.”

Earlier in the month, the royal rota had actually dismissed some of Harry’s domestic abuse claims. Back in 2019, William visited Harry at Nottingham Cottage, where the Duke of Sussex was living at the time, according to his book, Spare. Things got off on the wrong foot when William allegedly complained to Harry about Meghan being “rude” and abrasive,” which Harry says that his brother only repeated from the narrative that he was hearing from the press. Things got pretty heated to the point that William couldn’t contain his anger.

Dan Wootton, who often has something or another to say about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, almost immediately took to his Twitter account to write, “Like clockwork, the most devastating portion of Prince Harry’s autobiography, farcically claiming William physically attacked him, is leaked to the sympathetic left-wing Guardian newspaper to provide a soft landing. Wills and Kate will never forgive the Sussexes. Nor should they.”
