According to the Bringing Up Bates spoilers, the family could get their own docuseries. One fan brought it up on the DuggarsSnark subreddit. They want to know why the Bates haven’t become Shiny Happy People.
“Where are the Bates? Aren’t they ‘Shiny Happy People’?” the original poster read.
Unfortunately, the post was removed from the moderators. However, it’s still up and fans could share their reaction. Some believe that the Bates family will be exposed in Season 2 of Shiny Happy People.
Other fans would love to see the docuseries focus on other TLC families, such as the Plaths, the Willis Clan, and the Sister Wives family. They feel that Amazon Prime Video could keep this going.
However, some fans feel that the Bates are still seen as “shiny happy people” while the Duggars have received criticism over the years. Their reputation was already destroyed. Fans think there should be an exploration into Gil.
Other fans argued that there is more focus on the Duggars because of the series of scandals that came out. There are actual victims of the IBLP. At the time of this writing, there aren’t any scandals involving the Bates family. It’s also likely that producers couldn’t get a family member to speak out against the family or their religious upbringing.
According to the Bringing Up Bates Spoilers, there are skeletons in this family closet. They will eventually be brought to light. Some fans fear that the Bates may be more “dangerous than the Duggars.”
Since they dress like normal people and act hip, it’s easier for them to attract others to their religion. Other fans feel that the Bates family doesn’t have a criminal or financial paper trail following them. It can be harder to prove anything. Since the Bates aren’t as popular and well-known as the Duggars, there’s no interest in producing a docuseries about them.
Regardless, the IBLP has many more scandals involving different families. Fans feel that it’s only a matter of time before more are exposed. The reason why there’s such an interest in the Duggars is because they’re a squeaky-clean family who had skeletons in their closet.
