Read on to find out what we know so far about this new AMC+

Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk in Lucky Hank

Instead of acting as a slimy lawyer, Better Call Saul star, Bob Odenkirk, is taking on a very different role. He is playing an English professor, going through a serious midlife crisis in the new AMC+ series Lucky Hank.

Fans will remember him starring in the hit series Breaking Bad, followed by Better Call Saul where he built on the character of Saul Goodman to great effect. Now, starring in the AMC+ series Lucky Hank, we see Odenkirk with a thick gray beard and hair and glasses, looking totally bored teaching his students.

In the trailer included below, we see him in the allegedly respectable role of a college professor, obviously dealing with issues, with a bunch of bored students.

About the AMC+ series Lucky Hank

According to the official synopsis, Lucky Hank tells the story of an English department chairman at an underfunded college, Professor Hank Devereaux. Here, he is somewhere between a midlife crisis and a possible nuclear meltdown trying to navigate his personal and professional life. Moreover, he is there to teach us that tantrums actually get better with age.

The series originally had a working title of Straight Man, the title of the 1997 Richard Russo novel of the same name it is based on. Meanwhile, Lucky Hank’s showrunners are Aaron Zelman (Law & Order) and Paul Lieberstein (The Office). Moreover, the series is to be directed by Peter Farrelly (Green Book).

Who else is on the cast of the AMC+ series?

Besides Odenkirk, the cast includes some impressive names, including Mireille Enos, Jacki Gunn, Olivia Scott Welch and Diedrich Bader. Other cast includes Sara Amini, Cedric Yarbrough and Suzanne Cryer.

Lucky Hank also features some pretty impressive guest stars, including Kyle MacLachlan, Tom Bower, Oscar Nunez and Chris Diamantopoulos. Meanwhile, season 1 of Lucky Hank is set to run eight, one-hour episodes.

Anyone who loved Odenkirk as the shifty lawyer, Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman will surely love seeing him as a grouchy college professor in the new AMC+ show, which premieres on Sunday, March 19, 2023.
