The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers document that Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) assumed his adoptive father was happy with the way he and Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) were running the family business.
The bottom hemline was cheered in Rome, Italy, and the bottom money line is healthy. Eric Forrester (John McCook) allowed Ridge and Steffy to be the current heads of the Forrester Creations.
The co-founder and the late Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) of Forrester Creations has not retired. He simply stepped back in recent years so the next two generations could make their marks.
However, the failure of the line Eric and Zende Forrester Dominguez (Delon de Metz) produced in the absence of Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) stung.
So, with time and reflection, Eric decided that he was going out on top by returning to work.
Eric is a realist. Like others in his generation and the generations that have passed in the so-called modern era, McCook’s character recognizes that some younger souls default to the pigeonhole mentality.
It is easy to believe that someone of Eric’s age is stuck in time, even though he adapted to multiple iterations of technology and many newer versions of whatever than those who are one-sixth his age. But the shallow only see his gray hair, slower walk, and inability to instantly recall information.
Yes, Eric knows he is not going to live forever and that time flows. But he is choosing to use his talent and wisdom for as long as possible.
RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman) is a good choice. Writing that particular character into this storyline is wise.
Just as people of Eric’s age range can be typecast, so too can those who are in RJ’s generation. This compassionate young man values his grandfather, he does not demean him based on his birth year.
Steffy’s need to flee Los Angeles, California, keeps her away from what projects as a contentious series of issues.
Like her brother, she demonstrated openness to the wisdom of her elders, with Ridge, representing that reference.
Viewers are not yet able to know if this storyline is about arthritis and general aging issues or something more. Is Eric demonstrating rapidly advancing dementia symptoms or just becoming slightly forgetful?
Ridge has a lot on his soapy plate, with Steffy not being present in her co-Chief Executive Officer role. So, he is not putting his father out to pasture.
But everyone will have to reconsider Ridge’s initial reaction if Eric eventually receives a serious diagnosis.
Even if that happens, FC’s true head can still benefit, as can the company and its customers, by focusing on design with the assistance of his grandson, RJ, on B&B.
