Hope made secret contact with her father while he was in prison, serving time for shooting at Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer). The handwritten letters they exchanged were Deacon’s lifeblood. He used them for soulful sustenance and motivation.

Viewers recall Hope came face-to-face with Sheila in her father’s dim apartment above Il Giardino this fall. Sheila was wearing her Lina disguise. So, Hope did not recognize her.

Hope will be furious when, rather than if, she learns about Deacon’s tie to Sheila. Kanan’s character could lose access to Hope and his granddaughter, Beth Spencer (Jordyn Lynn Ariza).
