Well, that was something new. Hope showed no signs of harboring a grudge against Liam for having gone back and forth between her and Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) for years.

Liam is not in love with Steffy and has demonstrated his loyalty to Hope in many ways. But she has definitely not forgotten how Liam used to behave before he settled into their marriage and family life at the cabin.

Douglas Forrester’s (Henry Joseph Samiri) place in Hope’s life is intriguing. She accepted Thomas’ request that she adopt his son. That implies she has a bond with Atkinson’s character beyond friendship and collegiality.

Liam initially questioned the practicality of Douglas becoming part of the family. He felt Thomas aimed Douglas as an emotional weapon at Hope and was using him to create access to her.

Clifton’s character was right as Thomas later admitted, and now spends repeatedly time acknowledging was true. But Liam became Douglas’ father figure and has fully embraced him.

Steffy recently told Hope she never expected to doubt her intentions toward Thomas. Wood’s character does not have concerns about her brother’s actions but is rightly worried about what Hope will do and how Thomas will deal with it.

Liam is living like it was six months ago when Hope was on guard. Today, she is open to new possibilities, including becoming romantically involved with Thomas. That gives Thomas the opportunity to prove to her that he has grown. Whether he meets his self-professed new standards will likely soon be seen.

Hope’s conversations with Thomas on their San Francisco business trip will create more doubt in his mind about how she views him. Liam will soon recognize that Hope is vulnerable. That should lead to great soap on B&B.
