It was fully soapy to have Brooke follow Liam as the next person to catch Hope and Thomas. Both incidents prevented Noelle and Atkinson’s characters from keeping their connection a secret.

The consequence of Liam unexpectedly catching Hope kissing Thomas in Rome, Italy, set off a chain reaction. Clifton’s character poured his soul out to Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and then he kissed her on two continents.

Hope’s seeming fall into love with Thomas pushes Brooke and Ridge’s latest reconciliation, which tees up their potential ninth marriage, to second-tier status. But Hope’s realized choice also led Liam to attempt to reconcile with Steffy, who shut him down.

Steffy’s decision not to tell John Finn Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) about Liam kissing her poked a hole in their marriage balloon. Whether she can patch it will be seen shortly.

Ridge and Brooke are not likely to break up because Hope kissed Thomas. Kaye and Lang’s character’s path back to each other in this chapter of their love story was lengthy and should not be derailed by two of their children’s feelings for each other.

But Brooke needs to tell Ridge what she learned soon. That likely happens through the news that Hope and Liam intend to divorce.
