It looks like he was just being proactive, for better or for worse. There are new reports that say Ashton Kutcher kept his distance from his new co-star Reese Witherspoon while they were on the red carpet together.

And no, it’s not because he was trying to avoid her because of bad hygiene, but because he didn’t want anyone to come to the conclusion that he was cheating on his wife Mila Kunis. Talk about a husband who knows what he’s doing, right? Here’s what you need to know.

Ashton Kutcher seems to be that Hollywood husband who will go to great lengths to make sure that no one is gossiping about his marriage or his private life for that matter. Ashton and Reese both star in the new Netflix movie Your Place or Mine, but Ashton wanted to make sure that his fans knew that he wasn’t doing it with Reese at his place or his.

When asked about all of the awkwardness from him on the red carpet, Ashton said, “Here’s the thing, OK? Here’s the thing. If I put my arm around her and was, like, all friendly with her, I’d be having an affair with her. The rumor would be that I’m having an affair with her. If I stand next to her, and I put my hands in my pockets, there’s no chance that could be the rumor. The rumor is we don’t like each other… Reese and I are really good friends. We’re really close. I don’t have to defend that.”

He also added, “If you’re gonna tell me, in that entire twenty minute period, at one point you’re not gonna have an awkward face on? Then you’re better than I am, and I’m cool with that.”

For her part, Mila seemed to enjoy the fact that her husband Ashton was feeling super uncomfortable and even roasted him on social media about it. Talk about a supportive couple, right? At least they are keeping things real.
