Jill Dillard, her husband Derick, and Amy King alongside Dillion all appeared in the Amazon Prime show. Amy was sometimes seen on 19 Kids and Counting with the Duggar family. However, she wasn’t raised as strictly as her cousins. In fact, as far as Michelle and Jim Bob were concerned, she was something of a rebel. Jim Bob Duggar reacted to the documentary by calling it “sad,…derogatory…and sensationalized.”
Bill Gothard just did much the same thing on his social media. While Jim Bob came out as upset that someone in his family spoke out, the IBLP founder talked about “lying lips.” If that is the case, then there are a lot of people lying on social media. After the show, more bizarre things seem to come out all the time. At the moment, plenty of people look deeper, and others relate their own experiences from growing up in the IBLP.
Weeks after the premiere, the 88-year-old ranted about how his nondenominational faith-based organization is under attack. In fact, he titled his post: “Absurd Lies in New Video Attacks!” From his point of view, it’s a bad thing that people tell lies about the IBLP. And yet, it’s also something to celebrate. Non-churchgoers are simply not likely to get that connection. Anyway, it was a very long rant. But, you should know that the founder faced allegations of abuse in the past.
According to Screenrant, “Gothard has not been associated with the IBLP since his forced removal in 2014, when several of his female followers claimed he sexually harassed them.” Although Bill Gothard is not with the IBLP anymore, on their website, they also talked about the attacks being a good thing: “These attacks, as salacious and false as they may be, will cause many to search out our ministry and discover the truth for themselves. For this we are grateful because we know that our aim and our efforts are all designed to help people find God’s love, redemption, and the best for their lives.”
In the comments section of the post by Bill Gothard, Amy King roasted him. The mom of one wrote, “The IBLP is literally using the name of God while allowing abuse to take place all over the world. To men and women and innocent children…The IBLP is a cult. And anyone who works for or practices their teachings in their home or church is living in fear.” Finally, she slammed in all caps: “THE IBLP IS PURE EVIL.”
