Adaptation Of Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once Wraps Filming On Netflix

In what is its 8th television adaptation of Harlan Coben’s work, Netflix has announced that Fool Me Once is coming soon to the streamer. Filming has now wrapped and the series led by British actress Michelle Keegan who also stars. Read on to find out what we know so far about the thriller series, filmed mostly in the UK.

Airing in eight episodes of around one hour each, the series is an adaptation of Coben’s 2016 novel of the same name. However, while the book’s storyline was set in the US, the series is set in the UK, mostly in Manchester. There was also a short filming stint in Andalucía in southern Spain.

As noted by KFTV, Netflix started its creative partnership with Harlan Coben in 2018. Among the titles adapted so far are Hold Tight, Stay Close, The Stranger, The Innocent, Safe, The Woods and Gone For Good. Meanwhile, other upcoming projects will include Six Years, Myron Bolitar and Run Away.

Speaking of the announcement for Fool Me Once, Coben said:

I can’t wait to see how this dream cast brings these characters to life.

About the television adaptation

According to Netflix, the series follows Maya Stern who is trying to come to terms with the brutal murder of her husband, Joe. However, when she installs a nanny cam to keep an eye on her young daughter, she gets a shock. In the footage, she sees a man in her house that she recognizes. Shockingly, it is her husband, who she believed was dead.

Meanwhile, the homicide investigation into Joe’s death is led by Detective Sergeant Sami Kierce, who is grappling with secrets of his own. Moreover, Abby and Daniel, Maya’s niece and nephew, are trying to uncover the truth of their mother’s murder several months earlier. Are the two murder cases connected?

Fool Me Once follows the characters on a thrilling search for the truth that will reveal shocking secrets and change their lives forever.

Who is on the cast of Fool Me Once?

The following is the main cast of the series, with Michelle Keegan (Our Girl, Brassic) playing Maya Stern. The role of Detective Sergeant Sami Kierce is played by Adeel Akhtar (Ali & Ava, Sweet Tooth). Meanwhile, Richard Armitage (The Stranger, Stay Close) plays Joe Burket and Joanna Lumley (Finding Alice, Absolutely Fabulous). Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders, Kin) plays Shane Tessier, while Dino Fetscher (Foundation, Years and Years) plays Marty McGreggor.

Meanwhile, Netflix also confirmed other cast members who will appear throughout the series. Marcus Garvey (Disclaimer, Hijack) is in the role of Eddie Walker while Natalie Anderson (Happy Valley, Boiling Point) plays the role of Claire Walker. Moreover, Natalia Kostrzewa (Calling Home) plays Izabella Godeck and Adelle Leonce (A Discovery of Witches, Mammals) plays Eva.
