Updates on Geoffrey Paschel from 90 Day Fiancé revealed that he was convicted and sentenced to a lengthy prison term for kidnapping and assault on his ex-girlfriend, Kristen Wilson. Despite not expecting the outcome, Paschel and his girlfriend, Varya Malina, quickly started the process of filing for a new trial. However, their efforts were initially delayed, but now there is progress on his appeal in Tennessee.
90 Day Fiancé Spoilers – Geoffrey Paschel Took A Risk Going To Trial
TLC star Geoffrey Paschel made a risky move by not pleading guilty to battery and instead going to trial to clear his name. If he had pleaded guilty, he would have likely been out of jail much sooner. His legal team put up a good fight during the trial by objecting to evidence not related to the case, which made fans briefly excited. However, the judge ultimately overruled them. Paschel’s ex-wife was also allowed to testify without proper notice, which left a small opening in the case.
90 Day Fiancé fans heard that Geoffrey intended to try for a retrial. However, these things take a very long time. In fact, he suffered a setback and things were delayed. In June of last year, his legal team filed a motion for it, but it was denied. However, he was given leave to appeal the decision. Anyway, they go ahead now with their appeals process which can take considerable time. While he might not get off the charges, in the end, it might reduce his sentence of 18 years.
90 Day Fiancé Spoilers – Geoffrey Paschel’s Appeal
This week, TV Season Spoilers reported on the appeal which came in the form of oral arguments. According to the outlet, “The TV celebrity’s attorney, M. Jeffery Whitt, focussed on two testimonies while presenting his oral argument for Geoffrey’s re-trial.” One of those was the issue of the photos on the phone. In another instance, he spoke about an officer who gave an opinion when he wasn’t an “expert.” That involved the so-called “self-infected” scratches on his ex.
Years ago, the 90 Day Fiancé star told the writer of this article, that the case was pretty much a “he-said-she-said” type of case. Well, it’s interesting to see that during the appeal argument, his lawyer also spoke about that. The outlet cited Whitt who “argued that the case was looking more like he said/she said case. Hence, his client should get a re-trail based on these arguments.”
90 Day Fiancé Spoilers – Still More Time To Wait
90 Day Fiancé fans should not expect anything to happen really fast with Geoffrey’s appeal. The next step is for the prosecution to respond and that will take 30 days. Furthermore, the panel that hears the appeals don’t just send any old case to the Supreme Court. Bear in mind, that Tennessee is extremely down on any sort of domestic violence. For now, no doubt Varya and Geoffrey pray that the outcome is encouraging.
