In an Instagram post on Thursday, May 25, Deavan Clegg, 26, opened up on the anniversary of Taeyang’s cancer diagnosis. In the post, she wrote, “Today is a difficult day for all of us. Reflecting back on the past year and all the trials it has brought,” adding, “The past year our lives were turned upside down and shattered. Many days we thought we were going to lose our sweet boy.”

However, Deavan continued, saying that while he still isn’t cured and is still battling “this horrible disease,” they know the first anniversary marks “one step closer to his recovery.”

The former TLC reality star also thanked her fans and followers for the support she has received from them along the way, writing:

100 beautiful cards sent to Taeyang, outfits to make him feel special, handmade gifts, surprise presents, and blankets. You guys have raised over $40,000 out of [our] $50,000 goal in just one year. Because of you we were able to provide proper care for Taeyang during this difficult time. I can’t thank you guys enough and how much I appreciate every kind gesture. My heart feels warm and I know everytime we get a new card or even a message on social media … you guys help us push through [sic].”

Deavan revealed the bad news in May 2022

In May 2022, Deavan, who also has a daughter, Drascilla from a previous relationship, as well as a baby whom she shares with fiancé Topher Park, first announced the bad news. She revealed that Taeyang had been diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, just days after his third birthday.

At the time, she shared heartbreaking images of little Taeyang in the hospital, explaining that he had already undergone multiple procedures. Meanwhile, the toddler had started chemotherapy just two days before. She explained that Taeyang requires around-the-clock hospital care and that it would be a long, two-year process that “has a high success rate of full recovery in five years.”

Fast forward to now, Deavan is happy to announce, “One year down .. two more to go!”
