Not too long ago, Yellowstone fans were treated to a prequel, 1923, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Even better, season 2 of the series has officially been confirmed. In the meantime, Ford was interviewed on the Today show about the show and has confirmed that he is “excited” to return for a second season.
Harrison Ford and Yellowstone prequel 1923
Recently, veteran actor Harrison Ford has made inroads in major TV series, including the comedy, Shrinking, and the Yellowstone prequel 1923. Season 1 of 1923 is a major success for Paramount+ where the Indiana Jones actor plays Jacob Dutton, along with Helen Mirren as his wife, Cara Dutton.
Clearly, the Duttons are facing more trouble in the past on the Yellowstone Ranch, 100 years prior to the flagship series. Now, having drawn millions more Western fans to the new streamer, Ford has confirmed that he is ready to start work on the second season. In fact, he confirmed that he will return for season 2 of both 1923 and Shrinking, which is great news for his fans.
While Ford is primarily famous for Hollywood movies like the Indiana Jones franchise and Star Wars he is happy to have branched out to the smaller screen.
What can we expect in season 2?
While earlier episodes saw Jacob sustain severe injuries during a range war, Ford has confirmed that his character will survive the ordeal. Meanwhile, when asked about his increase in acting output recently he said, “The simplest answer is probably the most truthful,” adding:
After two years of sitting on my a** during COVID, and waiting quite a few years for Indiana Jones to start, I had not done as much work as I wanted to and I wanted to do different things.
Moreover, the 80-year-old megastar is about to return for his fifth, and likely final outing as Indy in this year’s upcoming film, The Dial of Destiny. However, that isn’t all, as he is also involved in several new projects after the pandemic. Harrison told the Hollywood Reporter:
So [Shrinking] came along, and then, very quickly after that, 1923 came along.
However, he will also star as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in at least two movies for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he takes over from the late William Hurt.
Meanwhile, speaking of his television roles, Ford said, “I took the job without a script on both of them, on faith that the people who created the projects were going to deliver me a good script.”
As fans of creator Taylor Sheridan know so well, the show was sure to be a hit and had an excellent and exciting script. However, Harrison did mention the rough conditions and freezing cold weather while filming 1923 has been a challenge. Here’s hoping for his sake that season 2 is filmed in a warmer season.
As for the premiere date of season 2 of 1923, so far there is no news. Readers can watch the interview with Harrison Ford on the Express website.
