The Young and the Restless (Y&R) stars Beth Maitland and Eileen Davidson both celebrated 40 years as the Abbott Sisters, Traci and Ashley, this past week in an hour full of flashbacks as they welcomed Jack Abbott’s granddaughter, Allie, into the family.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Still Has Traci And Ashley Abbott
While both Maitland and Davidson now recur as these two beloved sisters, there was once a time when both were on contract and their stories took center stage. They battled over a man, namely Brad Carlton (Don Diamont), but that didn’t mean they didn’t love one another fiercely as they still do.
Maitland was thrilled to celebrate these four decades and get her own special episode, as she reflected back on 40 years and looked forward to what Traci might do next. She also credits the performers around her in the beginning with how things worked out.
“Eileen and I were in our early 20s. We had diverse backgrounds,” Maitland told Soap Hub. We went from working every now and then to three to four days a week, sometimes having 40 pages a day. It was very smart on Jerry and Terry’s part to invest in us forming a family unit.”
Y&R Spoilers – What Happened To Traci Abbott’s Missing Years?
The last time Traci and Maitland had any semblance of a story was when she wrote a mystery novel with Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) in mind as the leading man. He even wanted to move with her to New York, as he convinced himself he was in love with her, but Traci let him down easy. But how about all those years Traci was away in New York as a writer. Can they be explained now? Maitland would sure like them to and thinks maybe Traci even had a child we might not know about.
Of course, she would like to see Traci have a love story, as well. Isn’t that what soaps are all about? “Personally, what I hope for Traci, because of who she is for the fans, is that she has a romance,” Maitland said. “I would love to see that. It can be complicated, but where we see a beautiful romance. Where we get to see a woman in her 60s. Who is real and looks real. And has had troubles in her life. Let’s have some man find her fascinating and be desirable.”
Stay tuned to The Young and the Restless weekdays to see if Traci finds a new man to love.
