Elena tells Nate that she decided not to take the job in Baltimore and wants to have an honest discussion about where their relationship is going. She asks Nate to commit to being honest with her before they talk about where things stand.

“Considering the work she has put into her relationship with Nate and the love they shared, she isn’t ready to throw it all away without exhaustion every possible effort to try to save their relationship,” Brytini Sarpy (Elena) shares with Soap Opera Digest. “She is open to see if a reconciliation is possible. She demands to know if Nate has finally sobered up to the reality of his actions and is ready to take full accountability. “

When Nate shares that he’s accepted Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) job offer to replace Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) as CEO of Newman Media, Elena begins to have second thoughts about getting back together. She doubts working for Newman media is the right decision for Nate, as she associates the job offer with Nate’s deceitfulness.

“Elena associates the Newman Media job with Nate’s deceitfulness and hopes this isn’t signaling that he hasn’t learned from his mistakes. Elena once considered Victoria a friend and is disappointed to learn that Victoria is as cutthroat as the rest of her family and doesn’t care about anything beyond what benefits her bottom line,” Sarpy added.

When Elena expresses her concerns about the job, Nate becomes frustrated. He reminds her that he’s accepted and understands how wrong it was for him to stoop to such underhanded tactics. He explains he went to Lily Winters (Christel Khail) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) to ask for their forgiveness.

Nate wants her support as he goes in another direction with his career. He knows it is asking a lot, but he hopes she can trust him and agree to improve things between them. For Elena, it could be a dealbreaker. She knows that working so closely with Victoria has the potential to lead him to further corruption. So, she needs to know that if she decides to trust him that he won’t betray her.

“She wants him to show her his integrity. Elena and Nate are both at a fork in the road. They can either grow together and build a life, or Nate will continue to repeat his bad patterns, and their relationship will be doomed. I think the near future will explore their journey in trying to figure that out,” Sarpy revealed.
