The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) is teased to meet his end on Y&R. Vilasuso’s public announcement of his cast exit meant the character he has played since 2018 was either going to be recast, leave town, or experience the most unwanted option, being killed off.
Buzz indicates that Rey will be involved in a traffic accident that leads to his death. The Genoa City, Wisconsin Police Department detective volunteered to take Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) to a Chicago Blackhawks game. The out-of-town trip appears to be the plot vehicle that concludes Rey’s run.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Jordi Vilasuso Provided A Fresh Take
Rey’s arrival in GC was through an undercover mission. He was working in his hometown, Miami, Florida, and accepted an assignment to investigate Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
The funny money case produced some leads but never resulted in prosecution, which the Moustache delighted in knowing. Whether Victor was actually guilty, and purely covered his tracks, was not revealed.
Vilasuso helped build out the Rosales family, with his brother, Arturo Rosales (Jason Canela), being the first to arrive earlier in 2018. Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle), Mia Rosales (Naomi Gonzalez), and the Rosales’ mother, Celeste Rosales (Eva LaRue), and father, Adrian Rosales (Jay Montalvo), followed.
Y&R Spoilers – Why No Recast Or Write-Out?
The apparent decision to kill Rey off, which has not yet been fully confirmed, means that TPTB did not want to recast this character. That implies more than one decision was made.
No other Rosales’ family members will be on-screen if Rey dies. It would seem that a decision was made to eliminate this family that was only introduced four years ago.
The Rosales’ were the first family to be created since Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) expanded Michael Baldwin’s (Christian Le Blanc) backstory in 2003. So, a lot of time and investment was made into bringing the Rosales family to life and then developing those characters across the years.
Along with the above, why not write Rey out? He and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) could have split, or Rey could have been sent on an assignment, reversing his original arrival. A fade-away storyline could have been presented over time, which would have allowed this character to return someday.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Sharon Rosales Forced To Deal With Death Again?
Sharon has endured an incredible amount of drama in her life, as is true for many regular characters in GC. The death of Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) will stand as more tragic than Rey’s teased loss.
However, this is Sharon’s husband, who she has come to love deeply. Their marriage was solid, and now it is all taken away?
The teased elimination of Rey implies a major shift for Case’s character, which is why a dramatic decision was apparently made.
