Y&R Spoilers: Who Is Keemo Volien Abbott?

The Young and The Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that newer viewers of The Young and The Restless are clueless as to who Keemo Volien Abbott (Philip Moon) is and how he’s connected to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). We’re here to fill you in on the mysterious Keemo!

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Jack Abbott Found Himself In A Similar Situation To Kyle Abbott

Longtime viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Jack found himself in a similar situation to his son Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) who discovered he’d fathered a son with a woman he’d had an affair with. However, the time between Kyle’s discovery of Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) and Jack’s discovery of Keemo are much different and many more years in between; Keemo was conceived during the Vietnam War. Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that while Harrison is an adorable toddler, in Jack’s case he didn’t find out about Keemo until Keemo was twenty years old!

Keemo’s conception was also under much different circumstances than Harrison’s – Jack was a soldier in the Vietnam War and fell in love with a Vietnamese woman, Luan Volien, formerly Luan Nguyen (Elizabeth Sung). Longtime viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Luan wound up in Genoa City, where she owned and operated The Saigon Shack; Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) became friends with her.

Y&R Spoilers – Luan Volien Was Shot And Asked Christine Blair To Find Her Son In Vietnam

Longtime viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall Luan had quite a scare when her restaurant was robbed and she was shot, and she thought she was a goner! Luan asked Christine to find her son Keemo who she’d left behind in Vietnam – she also had a daughter, Mai Volien (Marianne Rees) who was in America living with her. Christine and Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) traveled to Vietnam and were able to locate Keemo, now twenty years old, and bring him back to Genoa City where he moved in with his mother and half-sister.

Later, as longtime viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall, Christine and Paul realized Jack and Luan had a past together and they reconciled and eventually married; however, Keemo was not thrilled about Jack, to say the least! Eventually, though, Jack and Keemo did form a somewhat strained father-son relationship and Keemo eventually accepted Jack.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Luan Abbott Dies Of A Terminal Illness

Unfortunately, as longtime viewers of The Young and The Restless will remember, Jack and Luan’s happiness did not last very long, and she contracted a terminal illness which killed her, and Jack tried to shield Keemo and Mai by not telling them the diagnosis. Longtime viewers of The Young and The Restless will remember that did not sit well with Keemo, his feeling that Jack stole precious time for him and Mai by their being kept in the dark.

After several months of grieving Luan, Keemo eventually forgave Jack, but then moved back to Vietnam, taking Mai with him; there has been no contact ever since, but it looks like Keemo may be behind the mysterious texts that Jack has been receiving! Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) had tracked down the name associated with the number the texts have been coming from and it is a Hwang Nguyen (uncast character) – the same name as Luan’s father, although Jack doubts it could be him!
