It’s a stormy night in Genoa City, and Victoria is alone in her house; she opens the curtains and is shocked to find her ex-husband staring at her. She lets him in, in spite of being warned by Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) earlier that Ashland was off the rails and may have a target on her back. Locke claims he just wants to say goodbye before leaving Genoa City forever, but she has her guard up, knowing that he’d been arrested for violating a restraining order.
However, she becomes frightened when she notices how agitated he is; he complains how she conned him out of his fortune. He ramps it up and she soon realizes it’s not a conversation about closure and it’s going south fast.
Victoria quickly realizes that she is seeing a side of her ex that she’s never seen before – it’s like Dr. Jekyll turning into Mr. Hyde. Locke is ten times more scary than her first abusive ex, JT Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) and longtime Y & R viewers will remember how that turned out. She realizes that he’s off the rails and dangerous, and Victoria tries to get him to leave – but he won’t. He just gets even more angry and insulting her, and that’s something she’s never dealt with in Ashland. Things get uglier and uglier as they argue, and she strikes a low blow calling him poor Bobby DeFranco from New Jersey.
Ashland becomes more scarier and more threatening as the argument goes on, and it’s clear he’s a man with nothing left to lose. He starts coming after her and she grabs a fireplace poker to defend herself; in the meanwhile, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) tries to convince Nick to check on his sister. Nick finally calls, and as the phone rings on the other end, Victoria claims it’s her security guards and if she doesn’t let them know she’s okay they’ll come.
Victoria is trying to defend herself with the fireplace poker as Nick arrives, and Ashland’s completely off the rails. Nick tries to calm the Locke Ness Monster down, and negotiation techniques aren’t working.
Nick has to get physical as Locke lunges for Victoria, and he pushes him in the direction of the fireplace; he falls to the ground. Locke doesn’t have a pulse, and Nick and Victoria note he doesn’t have a pulse and Victoria tries cardiopulmonary resuscitation and it doesn’t work. There is blood under his head as he has been injured by the sharp end of the bricks of the fireplace, and Victoria calls Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd). Nick and Victoria go outside to talk in spite of the rough weather, but then go inside – and the body’s gone. Who moved the body will be a mystery that will last for several months.
