Y&R Spoilers: Victor Overplays His Hand – Ashland Is Redeemable

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers document that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is controlling Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) life again. She has repeatedly warned her father not to do that. But the Moustache can not control what he feels are paternal instincts.

Now, Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) was hardly the ideal son-in-law. He makes Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) seem far better in comparison. Though Victor would likely not even grudgingly agree that assessment is apt.

Most tellingly, Ashland asked Victor to give him a second chance, and Braeden’s character did not give an inch. He believes that Ashland is not redeemable and does not deserve forgiveness.

The issue has and continues to be Victor. He sees his firstborn as a child who can not protect herself.

Victoria is the most highly accomplished of his children and the most qualified, by far, to the Chief Executive Officer of Newman Enterprises. That is why Victor respected Victoria’s ultimatum in the recent past, that he name her CEO or she was leaving the company.

No respectful parent can treat Victoria as Victor has and expect her to take it. Yet, Victor has made the mistake of overvaluing his influence in Victoria’s life.

Y&R Spoilers – Ashland Locke’s Appearance Changes

Victoria was not inclined to give Ashland a second chance. If Victor had only stayed quiet, Ashland would have remained boxed out.

Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) recently heard her daughter say that she still has feelings for Ashland. But the doubts she has about their annulled marriage have not caused Victoria to seek reconciliation.

Instead, Victoria has been civil to Ashland and may have been able to let time pass, with his hold over her disintegrating as time passed. Victor’s restraining order maneuver changes the dynamic on Y&R, giving Ashland unexpected new life.

Would Victoria reconcile with Ashland to spite her father? Sure, that is a soapy possibility.

Victor sees himself as a skilled chess player. But in this game, he has enabled a weakened Ashland to reclaim momentum. Victoria feels sorry for Ashland and rightly realizes that Victor used access to Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) as a weapon.

Ashland only needed one person on his side. Victoria was not going to be that person until Victor miscalculated on Y&R.
