The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers document Michael Baldwin’s (Christian Le Blanc) teased agreement to help Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) could prove to be problematic for Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi). The Moustache is concerned that Ashland’s dramatically improved health means that the Lockeness Monster could strike again.

Newman-Locke represented an earth-shaking moment where the Newman family no longer held sole control of the family-run business. Yes, there have been some similar events in Newman Enterprises’ history. But this one includes Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle) being married to the other half of the merged business.

Victor’s talk with Michael at Society could have been a one-off part of the special episode. Y&R’s leading man, Braeden, is often included in carve-out pieces because Victor is essential in Genoa City, Wisconsin.

But it appears that Michael’s decision to retire as GC’s District Attorney will be followed by his choice to do some work for Victor. Le Blanc’s character stated that he did not want to accept what would be a pressure job after a presumed retirement. Victor said the contract could be worded as such.

So, Michael’s first assignment is teased to involve an overview of Ashland. That, along with recent real-life news that the character has been recast and is now being played by daytime veteran Robert Newman (Ashland) provides plenty of speculative room for viewers to explore.

If Ashland is revealed as more of a villain than he admitted to being, then Newman’s character (come February) may push Victoria out of the Chief Executive Officer’s chair through duplicitous means.

Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) could sit in her seat instead. But that outcome might happen if Victor loses confidence in his daughter’s judgment, again with the assumption that her faith in Ashland was fatally flawed.

Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) just established her law practice in GC. She asked her sister, Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose), to join her. That appeared and still may be one of Morgan’s new storyline paths.

However, Michael’s move, like Christine Williams’ (Lauralee Bell) before him, opens an opportunity. So, why not have Amanda become the DA?

Morgan’s second character is fully developed, now more than two years after her debut. Having Amanda assume this responsibility would fit her personality and offer many opportunities for creative plot choices.
