The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) makes a heartbreaking decision about Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Unable to stay in an unhappy relationship any longer, Lily tearfully tells Billy that she thinks they need to spend some time apart.

On Thursday’s (December 28) show, Lily admitted that they are two good people who want different things out of life. She doesn’t think their disagreements have anything to do with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). She thinks their trouble started way before he saved Chelsea’s life.

Lily said it all started when they stopped working together. Young and the Restless spoilers state that work bonded them. When they stopped having that common ground, their differences were apparent.

Billy didn’t want to end their relationship. But Lily needed space to get away from Billy to discover if this relationship was worth fighting for. Of course, they love each other, but Lily wonders if they are too different to make it work long-term.

Daniel’s return puts a strain on Lily’s relationship. Daniel is attentive and sweet; everything Billy isn’t right now. But he’s hiding secrets from Lily, one being his struggles with alcoholism.

It should get interesting when Billy learns Daniel is interested in rekindling a romance with Lily. He won’t want her to see other people, so he’ll likely work hard to win her over.
