Current storyline developments have Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) desiring that her older son, Johnny, learn that her younger son, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), is his brother. To date, the character Mackey plays is perceived as a cousin.
Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) was resistant to Chelsea’s request. But he agreed to talk with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) about it. However, Chelsea opted to go directly to the legal decision-maker.
Johnny is aware that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is not his biological mother. She told him that information in the past.
But Johnny does not know that Connor is a blood relative or that Chelsea is his mother. Victoria does not feel it is best to drop this information after telling him and his sister that Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) recently died.
Chelsea does not realize that Victoria is facing intense stress because of the nature of Ashland’s death, with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) being accidentally responsible. Johnny’s adoptive mother calls the shots and will seemingly need to make a decision soon.
Billy is the one person who is Johnny’s known biological father and shares legal custody of the boy. Thompson’s character holds a position that is different than Victoria’s or Chelsea’s
It would not be smart to have Johnny learn that Chelsea is his mother in any way other than a planned conversation that involves all involved parties. Hopefully, Chelsea does not take it upon herself to tell him the truth or to do so by telling Connor and having him pass that along.
Chelsea’s intentions seem reasonable. But her apparent feelings for Billy, as underscored by a teased kiss, must make everyone doubt what her true intentions might be.
Chelsea was put through the wringer by Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) in the recent past. No one, including Egan’s character, was surprised by that recurrence of a bad pattern of behavior.
However, Adam is not driving Chelsea’s hope of creating a bond with Johnny. Billy must protect his son’s best interests while deferring to what Victoria thinks is best. She, not Chelsea, not only raised Johnny, but Victoria also adopted him when she did not have to.
Victoria will remain Johnny’s mother. And of course, the lady not mentioned until the end, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), should weigh in on Billy’s decision as well. Neither Victoria nor Lily can be diminished, as Chelsea may want Billy to do.
