Devon can tend to be overly cautious with new projects and doesn’t like to take big risks, and he may feel that a gaming platform like Daniel has created won’t sell. But Devon is not a gamer, he’s a musician so it may not be his forte; and it’s actually a new thing for Daniel too. Devon may do well to do some market research on games, perhaps even ask younger kids what they think; Moses Winters (Jacob Aaron Gaines) might be a start.
Devon should take into account that games have far advanced from what he may have played as a kid, the Mario Brothers and PacMan retired long ago. Today’s games have exciting, realistic graphics and music, and they can even be made as virtual reality with the right technology built in.
Devon tends not to be swept up in others’ visions, which may also be the reason why he continually turned down Nate Hastings’ (Sean Dominic) project ideas as well. They already have a family feud with each other as cousins, but there may just be another one with his sister over Daniel’s gaming platform project.
Lily, on the other hand, finds Daniel’s enthusiasm motivating and contagious and she can see the vision as a reality that Daniel has while Devon is not a dreamer. When Daniel admitted it’s on the drawing board and his creative team wasn’t hired, Devon got worried, wondering if it would even come to fruition. Daniel, believing it was a go, already has talked to his mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) about being in charge of day to day operations and being a team leader.
Devon may find it further off putting when he finds out Daniel hired his mother, especially if his father Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) gets wind of it and advises him. Tucker’s got a plan of taking over Chancellor-Winters and making it a father and son operation, leaving Lily in the lurch as well as others. Tucker could easily influence Devon to drop the risky gaming platform venture, and worry Daniel isn’t the person to implement something like that.
Tucker would also remind Devon that Phyllis herself is risky and reveal her firing, and Devon could either scrap the project entirely or hire someone with more gaming industry experience. That would set off another family feud between Devon and Lily, for sure.
