Y&R Spoilers: Does Tessa Have Singer’s Nodes?

The Young and The Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) sore throat recently could have dire consequences for the songbird’s career. She thinks it’s a virus and has been trying home remedies to cure it, but could future Y & R episodes reveal she has singer’s nodes?

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Singer’s Nodes Are A Serious Condition

Singer’s nodes are a serious condition in which small polyps, called “nodes” or nodules form on the vocal chords, usually in those who use their voice a lot. Singers, call center customer service representatives, and nowadays, podcasters could be prone to the disorder which results from wear and tear on the vocal chords. A sports announcer who calls play by plays at sporting events could also be prone to the disorder, and perhaps even more so since they frequently get excited with the fans!

Spoilers from summer previews have teased unexpected challenges for Tessa and her new wife Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes). Nothing is mentioned about a tour or time apart causing the challenges, and if Tessa has developed singer’s nodes that would certainly put the kibosh on a tour, and cause challenges!

Y & R Spoilers – Tessa Porter Not Touring Could Cause Some Financial Stress

Tessa has a new album out and should be on the road promoting it, not to mention they want to adopt a child. Financial stresses from not touring could make adoption difficult, even though Mariah has a good salary at Jabot! Tessa isn’t constantly on the road, but adoption agencies are picky – they often require stability both in finances and in home life, considering one parent gone frequently instability. Tessa and Mariah were planning to delay pursuing the adoption pending the tour, but if she can’t tour because of her throat needing rest they may move forward with adoption. But she may encounter difficulty making a career comeback in either situation if she has to stay away from singing and touring!

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Surgery May Be Necessary

There’s always the possibility as well that if Tessa has developed singer’s nodes that surgery may be necessary; however, there is a risk that the surgery may not solve the problem. There was more risk of vocal cord scarring prior to advancements in laser surgery and microsurgery, however, so Tessa may not have to go under the knife to solve her problems. The only time people cannot be helped with vocal cord problems is if there is scarring, and that more often happens with injury than with strain.

Still, an extended period of vocal rest and voice therapy would be required with either the microsurgery or the laser surgery options. There’s also a risk that Tessa’s voice could change – and that would really be a disaster for a singer!

Y & R Spoilers – Could The Challenges Be In The Adoption Process Itself?

Even if the challenges aren’t related to Tessa’s sore throat – god forbid they do a throat cancer storyline; there could be daunting challenges in the adoption process itself! As previously mentioned, there could be problems with the adoption agency feeling that their home would be stable enough with one parent an on the road singer. There could be some homophobic people at the adoption agency who would deny them because they’re a same sex couple, although Y & R writers are usually more progressive than that! Still, for some in the rainbow community, prejudice can be an issue even in modern times, and if so, they may opt to wait until Mariah can carry a baby again!
