This is of course, what happened between Nate, Devon and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy). Even though it seemed as if Devon and Nate smoothed the romantic betrayal out, there are clearly residual issues.

Nate ended up confessing his takeover scheme. This cost Nate his job and several relationships with people he cares about. Nate wasn’t just employed at Chancellor-Winters, though. Nate was family, which makes the betrayal even worse.
