Diane’s story was that she returned to Genoa City to connect with her son, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). However, that was only half true. Sure, she wanted to be in her son’s life, especially now that he had a child of his own. But her end game seems to be to connect with Jack.

Phyllis realized that immediately. A few weeks ago, she noted that Diane wouldn’t be happy until she had a shiny diamond ring on her finger with a wedding date to become Jack’s wife. That seems to be an accurate assessment of Diane’s true intention.

Who could blame her? If she can reconnect with her son and win Jack over, she would feel like she won the $1.9B lottery draw. Diane’s presence in Genoa City pumps the breaks on Jack and Phyllis’s reunion.
