Y&R Spoilers: Adam’s Chelsea Comfort, Sex With Ex Temptation?

The Young and The Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) attempt to comfort Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) could turn into more. Given the two’s emotional states, with both suffering recent rejection, there could be some “sex with the ex” temptation.

Adam has addressed this before with Chelsea, that little boys aren’t meant to shoulder adult’s emotional problems, and it looks like she’s extremely emotionally dependent. Yet, it looks like she is trying to fill an emotional gap left by Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) death, who she got too close to anyway, with her sons. Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) has seen the same thing, which is a rare occasion when Billy and Adam agree on anything at all.

Chelsea’s latest attempt to fill the hole in her heart has left her even more bereft-her attempts to get Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind) to bond backfired. She forced the truth on both boys that she is Johnny’s birth mother, and tried to get them to bond as brothers, causing both boys pain and confusion.

Ironically, Adam also brought his heartache upon himself by breaking up with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) in an attempt to protect her from himself and being fired. Adam always seems to sabotage either himself or his relationships with the ever present Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) shaped rejection chip on his shoulder and it happened again. There have been plenty of times he’s sabotaged his employment as well during his self-destructive phases, and he drove Sally to the point of no return to himself. Sally still has feelings for him but he burned her so bad she’s afraid to even move on with his brother, opting to just go back to being friends.

So Adam and Chelsea are in similar heartbroken situations which they both brought on for themselves. Adam can’t mend fences with Sally, and Connor and Johnny are both rejecting Chelsea. That could very well lead to the two of them indulging in grief sex with each other, considering he shows up at her hotel suite where there’s a handy bed.

But chances are, if they do make that decision or literally just fall into it with each other, it’s not going to provide anything but very short term relief. They might feel better and needed and validated by doing so, but in the long run it could complicate things for them even worse.
