Sam McMurray has come and gone as Dwight. Soap Opera Digest reported that the gentleman would make a connection with Katherine Chancellor’s former maid Esther Valentine (Kate Linder).

The hopes were high among the fan base that this meant more airtime for Linder, who is a perennial fan fave.

Well, that hope was short lived as the character of Dwight (Sam McMurray) has come and gone and did not let the you know what hit him on the way out. Fans saw Dwight enter and exit on Monday, May 23.

Sam McMurray’s credits inkcude King of Queens and Friends. But wait there’s more: Kojak, Mom, The Sopranos, The King of Queens, Raising Arizona and Addams Family Values. He was also Wes Leonard on Ryan’s Hope back in the 80s.

What do we know of Dwight? Y&R spoilers spilled that Ester’s daughter Chloe Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) was going to help usher in a new chapter of life for the former domestic worker. Then Linder told the outlet: “I love working with,” McMurray. “He’s a consummate professional.”

Soaps.com talked to Linder recently and she said, “I’ve always thought it would be really interesting if she went to work at maybe Chance Comm or Chancellor Industries or something because people would think that Esther could never do that.”

Well we know that Esther can do anything! She worked for Mrs. C for decades and has never once yielded to temptation by offing her snarky nemesis Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) over the years.
