Why Days Of Our Lives Needs To Bring Jack And Jennifer Back For Good

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal Jack Deveraux and Jennifer Deveraux returning to Salem this week after they learn their beloved daughter, Abigail Deveraux DiMera, was killed. But their visit is not set to be a long one.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Jack And Jennifer Deeraux Are Needed In Salem

There are few characters who come and go from Salem as often as Matthew Ashford’s Jack. Every time it seems he is going to last on DOOL, he is gone again. At least this time he wasn’t killed so it’s easy to bring him back for occasions like his daughter’s funeral.

Meanwhile, Jennifer (largely played by Melissa Reeves) has been a main part of the soap’s cast since 1985, first as a high school student, a college student, a Spectator intern, a wife, a mother, and now a grandmother. She is a beloved character who has always driven story so there’s no reason for her to now be living outside Salem where fans can’t know where Jack and Jennifer’s long-standing love story is taking them now.

When Jack was first revealed to be alive but with amnesia in 2018, Jennifer worked long and hard for him to remember who he really was, even as he believed he was the perfect anti-immigration politician married to Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva). Jennifer never gave up on Jack, but DAYS gave up on Jack and Jennifer once again.

DOOL Spoilers – There’s A Whole Gwen Rizczech Story

Now that Abigail (Marci Miller) is gone and Jack’s other daughter who he never knew he had until last year, Gwen Rizcech (Emily O’Brien), is a suspect in fans’ eyes, Jack is needed on the canvas to deal with this. And Jennifer is needed because the story won’t work unless Jennifer is there to hate Jack’s daughter as he bonds with her more.

This week’s Jennifer return has Cady McClain playing the part rather than Melissa Reeves, who was last seen as Jennifer not even months ago. If Reeves can’t return on a full-time basis, McClain can be the new permanent Jen as she even won a Daytime Emmy for playing the role last year.

Despite how long Reeves has brought Jennifer to life, fans accepted McClain, a soap vet from playing Dixie Cooney on All My Children, Rosanna Cabot on As The World Turns, and Kelly Andrews on The Young and the Restless.
