Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) arranged for her murder but an innocent man, Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) did time for the crime. He recently was exonerated and now he and Nikolas are free as birds to go about their business. Let’s take a look back at how events unfolded.

Years back coffee scion Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) told Shawn Butler to kill someone and let’s just say that Hayden was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It all went cattywampus as Shawn fired his gun, Nikolas’ hitman fired his gun, and Hayden was shot. Still, Shawn took the fall for it before a determined, but incarcerated, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) decided to prove his innocence.

Nikolas had married Hayden under false pretenses and like any good soap she-devil, she was trying to outmaneuver him. The stakes were upped to murder level when she found out another one of his secrets involving “Jake Doe” Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) who was really Jason’s twin, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), who just returned to town after being presumed dead.

Hayden is the sister of town nurse Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst). When she was married to Nikolas he was the typical Cassadine cad—as hiring someone to kill her shows.

At one point she was involved with Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) who is a good guy, but she is a bad girl. She left him high and dry, claiming to have lost the baby she was carrying. It was not true but he mourned just the same. Lo and behold she eventually returned to town, with their daughter in tow. When she needed medical attention, Finn was the one who helped. Once again Hayden left her loved ones high and dry, this time abandoning her daughter to Finn’s care.
