The Young And The Restless Star Michael Morgan Speaks Out On Her Reason To Go Off Contract

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Mishael Morgan just wrapped up her arc as Amanda Sinclair, at least for now. She dropped from contract status to recurring, stating she would consider a small arc if they needed Amanda for the storyline.

When she decided not to renew her contract, Morgan said it was the “right move for her family.” She explained that crossing the border to go home to Toronto was a nightmare with all the COVID-19 restrictions.

The Young And The Restless — A Tragedy Hit Mishael Morgan’s Family

In April, Morgan’s brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and their children died in a fire. She needed to get back to Canada, so her kids could get to know their family better.

“But when we had that family tragedy, it kind of reminded me that this is the right decision for me right now,” Morgan shared with She Knows Soaps. “Dropping to recurring, I can travel a lot more and spend a lot more time in Toronto. And the bonus is, my kids, will get to know all their cousins and uncles.”

Amanda knows she can’t trust Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) anymore around Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway). Abby is the mother of Devon’s child, so they will always have a deep connection.

“Abby is the mother of his child, she’ll always be in Devon’s life, and it would be really hard to get over this when you constantly see that person,” Morgan shared with Soap Opera Digest. “It’s not like Abby is going anywhere.”

But now, Amanda has a new life in Virginia and wants to be there for her mother. She doesn’t want to think about any drama in Genoa City, so she decides to end her relationship with Devon and resign from Chancellor Winters – a move that completely took Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) by surprise.

“For now, she needs to pick up the pieces and regroup. After that’s done, however long it takes, who knows what her frame of mind will be the next time she’s in Genoa City?” Morgan teased.

It sounds like the Y&R fans can expect to see Amanda in the future. She isn’t closing the door on a return. She just needs more time with her family and to travel.
