Phyllis had a deeper insight into Diane’s mind and goals than Jack did because she is one of this soap’s all-time schemers. Stafford’s character admitted her mistakes and used them as comparison points.
Jack and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) were on-board at first. Each character was opposed to Diane being part of their lives. But Diane used Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) as an emotional entry point and flipped the soapy script.
Even her critics have to hand it to her. Diane might be facing fewer consequences than other comparable people who came back from the dead in GC.
For starters, Diane has suffered no legal repercussions. That appears to be a plot hole or, at the very least, is proof that little dialogue has been offered on the cogent subject.
So, surviving arrest and seemingly needed incarceration, Diane also succeeded in quickly restoring trust with her only known child. With Diane’s track record, who can say with certainty that Kyle is her only offspring? No one.
But to gain Jack’s passioned allegiance might be the greatest feat. Backhanded kudos is offered by Diane’s detractors.
Jack allowed himself to become involved with many unstable matches. He claimed in the recent past that Phyllis was the one that got away. She was supposedly his deepest love.
Turning against Phyllis, and because she was opposing Diane, does not make sense. Yet, Jack’s illogical nature toward his romantic partners has been a trademark of his relationship history.
Luan Volien Abbott (Elizabeth Sung) is arguably Jack’s greatest love. She also represented his most stable relationship. Keemo Volien Abbott Nguyen’s (Philip Moon) mother is the starkest possible contrast to his brother’s (Kyle) mother, Diane.
The sight of Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) sharing warm Christmastime conversations with Phyllis represents proof. Danny’s adopted son, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei), wanting his mother to work with him at Chancellor-Winters represents additional proof.
Proof of what does not need to be asked by hardcore fans who are also Phyllis supporters. Stafford’s character was alienated from Danny and Daniel and redeemed herself. The same will likely prove true with Jack and Summer.
While Phyllis is the poor soul in the current storyline, devoted viewers are not betting against her. Phyllis is resilient and may prove to be the character who helps to neutralize or even defeat Diane eventually on Y&R.
