Sister WivesTwo of Kody Brown’s children, Mariah and Gwendlyn came out as gay, but the Sister Wives sibling’s experiences were decidedly different.

Sister Wives fans have gotten to experience the full evolution of the Brown family over the years including two of Kody Brown’s 18 children coming out as gay. However, Mariah and Gwendlyn Brown’s respective journeys have been very different. Things were more difficult for Gwen. Continue reading and we’ll fill you in.

Sister Wives – Browns ‘Not Happy’ Moriah Brown Is Gay, but ‘Happy She Knows Herself’

Back in 2017, when Season 11 of Sister Wives was underway, fans witnessed Mariah come out as gay to her father Kody, and his four wives Janelle, Meri, Christine, and Robyn. Robyn was the one to quickly support Mariah with a hug while the rest sat in dumbfounded silence.

According to Screen Rant, Kody’s reasoning for being altogether unresponsive was that the information was like a “bomb” going off and that he was still processing the news. However, the Brown patriarch did offer some words to the camera, saying, “We’re not happy Mariah’s gay; we’re happy Mariah knows herself.” Meri too embraced her daughter’s sexuality once she came to terms with the gravity of what had just happened.

Sister Wives – Paedon Brown May Have Told Gwen Her Sexuality Wasn’t ‘Real Or Possible’

It was during the COVID-19 pandemic that Gwen chose to come out on Twitter, telling followers that she was a “raging bisexual.” But Gwen didn’t expect the backlash that followed. It was so bad the Sister Wives star had to delete her account to make the comments stop.

Unfortunately, Gwen didn’t fare much better with her own family. In 2020 the TLC personality tweeted, “That moment when you find out your siblings gossip about how they don’t think your sexuality is real or possible.” Mykelti Brown has been the only family member to support Gwen on her personal coming-out journey.

A Sister Wives fan commented about Paedon Brown Insta-messaging them that “black lives don’t matter,” so it could be safe to assume that it was he that Gwen was referring to in her tweet.

Sister Wives – Gwen Brown May Only Have Her Sisters Mariah Brown And Mykelti Brown’s Support

Probably most damning is that Gwen’s own parents, Christine and Kody have not bothered to come out in support of their daughter, choosing instead to let her twist in the proverbial wind. Conversely, Kody openly supports Mariah who is planning a wedding to marry her partner Audrey Kriss who just came out as transgender.

According to Jennifer O’Brien of Screen Rant, “At least Gwen has her big sister, Mariah, to look to for guidance that she may need in the future.
