British royal family news reveals that 8-year old Prince George of Cambridge will one day be king, after his grandfather Charles and his father William. He is still young but it has been reported that he is already in training for the enormous role which will land on his shoulders. That may be the case, but he is not too old for a nanny! In fact he has already had two nannies in his short lifetime. Let’s unpack what is going on behind the scenes in the nursery of someone who will one day be one of the world’s most influential people.
Royal Family News – Why Has Prince George Had Two Nannies?
Prince George has younger two siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. When he was born in July 2013 his first nanny was his father’s former nanny, Jessie Webb. At the time the family lived in Anglesey. Royal watcher Ingrid Seward wrote the book, A Century of Royal Children, and she told People at the time that Webb will, “be like a safe pair of hands. That’s preferred rather than someone new to it all, someone who’d be terrified of it all.” Alas, Webb was 72, and retired at the time. But when her previous charge made the request, she agreed to work for the family.
Royal Family News – Jessie Webb Was George’s First Nanny
Webb has been a part of William’s life in more ways than one. She was a guest at William’s 21st birthday party, she was invited to his wedding to Kate in 2011 and she attended Prince George’s christening in 2013. Her nanny duties for George were temporary and they eventually turned to Norland Nannies and hired their present nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.
She was hired by in 2014 when George was less than a year old and also serves as the nanny for Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Royal Family News – Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo Is A Norland Nanny
Maria attended England’s prestigious Norland College in Bath. Graduates wear a traditional uniform including a brown dress and hat and white gloves. Maria is also trained in self-defense and security methods.
Royal watcher Victoria Murphy wrote, “The nannies are taught everything from defensive driving to security issues to how to care for a future king or queen. So she just really knows everything that you could possibly need to know about bringing up a child.” It sounds as if George and his siblings are in the very best hands possible.
