The New York Times pretty much summed it up when they said that Bostonians let out a collective “whateva” over Prince William and Kate Middleton’s trip to their city. In fact, many people seemed to be unimpressed altogether. The couple were booed during a Boston Celtics game and there didn’t seem to be much interest in their Earthshot Awards, which was broadcast on PBS on Friday. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who actually watched the ceremony on television. At the same time though, everyone can’t stop talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming Netflix docuseries. They dropped their trailer on the second day of William and Kate’s tour of Boston.

Of course, many royal critics and fans alike sure have had a lot to say about the matter on social media. Some sentiments included, “I also support environmental causes and applaud their highlighting of theses issues BUT please can we remember we fought a war against the British monarchy and that’s why we exist as a separate country. Seems important context or do people no longer care anymore,” along with, “William appears to be a nice ordinary man who won his generation’s UK birth lottery. Catherine married him. That’s all that this couple is. I think that The EarthShot Prize is too little too late. We intentionally made poor choices that are throwing away the livability of the only planet where humans live.”
