Royal Family News: Meghan Markle To Finally Launch First Spotify Podcast

The British Royal family news and updates reveal that Meghan Markle will launch her first podcast show in collaboration with Spotify. The news comes after the audio streaming giant signed a deal with Prince Harry and Meghan’s production company, Archewell Audio back in 2020.

The launch of the series has been a long time coming. Both parties agreed to produce and host podcasts for the platform back in December 2020. Their primary goal was to “build community through shared experience, narratives, and values.”

Since then, there’s only been one podcast released. On December 29, 2020, a debut podcast was released and it featured various stars including Elton John and James Corden.

Spotify Gets Called Out For COVID-19 Misinformation

In January, Spotify made the headlines because of its deal with Joe Rogan. Archewell Audio called the audio streaming giant about the COVID-19 misinformation on its platform, particularly Rogan’s podcast.

It seemed like its deal with the royals was on the rocks in January. Reports say that Spotify allegedly pressured Archewell to provide content after a year but the latter was unable to present anything. Fortunately, both parties’ concerns have been settled and they’ve agreed on a production schedule.

What To Expect On Meghan’s First Spotify Podcast?

A spokesperson for Archewell Audio assured that the royals’ first Spotify podcast will be based on the principles of trust and safety. They’ll make sure that they provide quality and factual information especially when it comes to public health.

In a joint statement, Prince Harry and Meghan shared that they love podcasting because it reminds them to “really listen, to connect to one another without distraction.”

“With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other’s stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are,” they said.

Camilla Takes Over Meghan’s Role as National Theater Patron

Elsewhere, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall is now the new patron of the National Theater. It was a role that was previously held by Meghan before she and Prince Harry decided to step away from their royal duties.

The National Theater patronage is the first of Meghan’s patronages that were given to another royal family member. The National Theater is one of the most popular performing arts venues in the U.K.
