Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Lawyer Sounds Off On Sister Samantha’s Lawsuit

Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha is suing the duchess for defamation and, according to TMZ, Markle’s lawyer gave a “stern response,” calling the allegations “baseless and absurd.”

Meghan Markle has had some major obstacles to overcome since becoming an English princess. The Duchess of Sussex scored a big win in December against a British tabloid over copyright infringement. The tabloid is also in court via Prince Harry over its reporting on the duke’s legal row over security.

Royal Family News – Samantha Markle Claims

Just as it appeared that the Duchess of Sussex was finished with her legal issues, she’s now being pulled back in and, this time, by her own half-sister, Samantha Markle. The half-sister is also upset at Meghan’s claim that she only changed her name to Markle after Meghan started dating Harry.

According to She Knows, Meghan’s sister also took exception with her claim, to Oprah Winfrey, that she was an “only child” of Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland. Samantha also claims that Meghan has caused sales of her autobiography to dip and has prevented her from finding work.

Royal Family News – Meghan Gives Lawsuit ‘Minimum Attention Necessary’

Per TMZ, Meghan Markle and her team are not giving this lawsuit much consideration. Meghan’s lawyer Michael Kump called the move “baseless and absurd,” and “just a continuation of a pattern of disturbing behavior.” The legal team added that they would give the matter “the minimum attention necessary, which it deserves.”

As royals fans know, this is not Samantha Markle’s first time to make public claims against her sister and, while no one is certain yet how far she will take this one, it’s becoming increasingly clear that she’s not finished dragging her sister to court.

Royal Family News – Suit Claims Meghan’s Stories About Family Are ‘Concocted’

According to TMZ, Samantha is claiming that her sister is “trashing” her to lend credulity to the idea that she’s “overcome leaching family members.” In the same suit, she also alleges that Meghan’s claims of growing up in “virtual poverty” were bogus and that Meghan’s father paid for her to attend “elite and expensive private schools,” as well as dance and acting classes.

The duchess’s half-sister also claimed, in the suit, that Meghan’s motive for trashing her, and other family members, was a measured attempt to ensure that “[her family] could not interfere with or contradict the false narrative and fairytale life story” that the suit claims she “concocted.”
