Royal Family News: How Camilla Went From “Wicked” Stepmonster To UK Queen

British royal family news teases that the UK know knows who its next queen will be—Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. This had been in dispute following a rocky relationship with the public following her predecessor Princess Diana’s death. Diana alleged that Charles and Camilla carried on an affair during her marriage to Charles, infamously referring to the “three” of us in the marriage.

That did not endear Camilla to the public, and things did not improve after she married Charles. But it would seem that a great deal of the animosity was erased with a simple statement made by Queen Elizabeth on Saturday.

In a public statement, Queen Elizabeth gave her blessing for Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to be named Queen Consort when Prince Charles becomes king. It was the punctuation on a rocky road trod by Charles and Camilla, one in which she was cast in the role of villainess.

The public saw Camilla in a bad light in no small part due to Diana’s caustic comments about her, at one point calling her a “rottweiler.”

Diana died in a Paris car crash in 1997 and Charles and Camilla married in 2005. In a shocking turn about, a poll conducted this week showed the majority of Britons now accept her as Queen, whereas in 2021 only 14 percent felt the same. That YouGov poll found her to be the 11th most popular royal, with 28 percent saying they disliked her.
So, who is the next queen of England? She was born Camilla Rosemary Shand in London on July 17, 1947 and grew up a member of, “Britain’s monied upper classes,” according to NDTV.

She met Prince Charles as at a polo match in the early 1970s, “and they later became close. However, believing Charles would never propose, she married British Army officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973. The couple had two children: Tom Parker Bowles, whose godfather is Charles, is now a food writer, while Laura Lopes is an art curator.”
