Royal Family Commentator Weighs In On Prince Harry And Meghan’s Private Meeting With The Queen

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently working with Netflix on a documentary that will feature their philanthropic works, and possibly, a few private moments from their lives. The documentary is part of the couple’s ongoing multi-million dollar deal with Netflix to produce visual content for the streaming platform.

On Thursday, the couple stopped in the U.K. on their way to the Netherlands in order to have a private audience with the Queen. According to reports, they also saw Prince Charles and Camilla for a brief period of time before leaving.

While the reason or the outcome of the meeting is yet to be made public, a few experts have weighed in on the so-called “secret meeting” with the Queen.

Tom Bower Analyzes The “Cynical” Side Of Harry And Meghan’s Meeting With The Queen

In an opinion piece, royal commentator Tom Bower analyzed the Sussexes’ private meeting with the Queen and why they were so keen to arrange it. Mr. Bower said the meeting was “perfectly orchestrated by their Hollywood Advisers”.

“It appears the Sussexes are focused on retaining their credibility in America as senior members of the Royal Family to enhance their income from Netflix and Harry’s forthcoming memoir.

“In order to achieve that, they needed to be seen with the Queen.”

Tom went on to state that Harry and Meghan’s audience with the Queen proved “critics”, who thought the pair would stay away after bashing the royal family on national television, wrong.

“Blaming inadequate security, Harry seemed to suggest he would not be safe as he walked from his chauffeured car into Westminster Abbey,” Tom added. “Few believed his security was a genuine excuse for staying away from honouring his grandfather.”

Harry And Meghan’s Brief Meeting With The Queen “A Dramatic Plot Line”

Tom continued, writing: “Persuading the Queen to meet Meghan would not have been easy and will likely have involved lengthy negotiations. But in the end, Harry offered an “olive branch” to Her Majesty and Prince Charles.

“One can only wonder whether this “clear the air” meeting truly was an authentic attempt to work things out, or merely a dramatic plot line for their all-important Netflix documentary.”

“According to witnesses, the couple were spotted walking through Windsor Park towards the castle on Thursday.”

He added that while cameras were not allowed during the meeting, “it’s not hard to imagine syrupy commentary over moody footage of them en route to the talks.”

He also pointed out that Harry and Meghan will likely not be attending the Jubilee, because the best spot they could hope to get would be the VIP stands, and it wouldn’t be good for their image as they’ve convinced Americans that they’re still important senior members of the royal family.
